Industrial Applications
Improve the quality of your catalysts, titanium dioxide, molecular sieves, cement and detergent compounds. The quality of these products, and many others, depend on the quality of the intermediate chemicals used for making them.
USALCO® can deliver a solution to meet your custom requirements.
Applications
USALCO® is committed to producing the highest quality intermediate chemicals for industrial, process and manufacturing use. USALCO industrial and process chemicals may be deployed in multiple applications.
Alumina Catalysts
Sodium aluminate and alum create a powder which is used to make catalysts. These are often used in the following ways:
- In refining, these alumina catalysts are used to make gasoline and diesel fuels from lower grades of crude oil.
- Alumina catalysts are also used to refine resids, tar sands and heavier fractions produced in the refinery. The catalysts are extruded and have precious metals applied which perform the required functions.
- Catalytic converters use an alumina powder and are combined with other metals. The catalytic converter in a car or truck functions to reduce emissions from exhaust.
Titanium Dioxide
Sodium aluminate is used to modify the surface characteristics and make the light refraction properties unique in the production of TiO2, which is a white pigment used in paints, coatings and plastics.
Molecular Sieves
Sodium aluminate is used to manufacture molecular sieves which act as drying agents for multiple pane windows, ethanol, natural gas and specialty gases.
Cement
Sodium aluminate (liquid or granular) is used to help speed up the set of cement in concrete admixtures. Steel mills use refractory cement with sodium aluminate which provides temperature resistance.
Detergent Compounders
Industrial detergent compounders use sodium aluminate (liquid or granular) as a source of alkalinity and alumina.
