Customer Impact Notification - Price Increase Impact of Aluminum Import Tariffs
On February 10th, President Trump announced the imposition of a 25% tariff on aluminum imports from all countries, effective March 12th. This new tariff reinstates duties on aluminum imports from all countries without exemptions and increases the duties from 10% to 25%. Consequently, the cost of importing aluminum to the United States will rise considerably. This change will affect the Platts US Transaction price, which includes the Midwest US Transaction Premium. The Midwest Premium is expected to increase to maintain the flow of metal units into the US market.
