Business Operations update after the Collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore
We want to update you on the situation around the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Thankfully, none of our employees or their family members were harmed, and our production capabilities in Baltimore have not been affected. However, all outbound product shipments going North/Northeast from Baltimore are currently experiencing additional mileage and extended transit times of one to two hours as our trucks are forced to use heavily congested alternate routes. We anticipate seeing this impact for the foreseeable future and are working to make sure that shipments depart during off-peak hours whenever possible to minimize traffic delays.
One of our top priorities is to ensure that we meet your delivery expectations. We are evaluating the new reality around delivery transit times and identifying ship-to locations where we might require your assistance to extend the delivery-window hours temporarily. The vast majority of our customers will see no change whatsoever, but if one of your locations is impacted, a USALCO representative will contact you separately to discuss how we can work together on a mitigation plan. We are working exceptionally hard to avoid any disruption or added costs and will provide more information in a future update.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your business and your patience and understanding during this time.
Sincerely,
Ken Gayer, Chief Executive Officer
Jason James, Chief Operating Officer
